Writer and Designer
My name is Hayden McConnell and I am part of the Class of 2020 at Elon University. I am majoring in Professional Writing and Rhetoric with minors in Digital Art and Multimedia Authoring. Through my experience in both the classroom and the work world, I have grown to love both writing and design.
My writing journey began my freshman year of college when I was accepted to write for The Odyssey Online. From there my love for writing blossomed as I began writing for The Edge Magazine at Elon University and started my own blog shortly after. Majoring in Professional Writing and Rhetoric (PWR) has not only strengthened my writing but also opened my eyes to my passion for design and multimedia. I've always enjoyed drawing and painting so I wanted to learn how to apply my eye for design to the professional world. I started taking some graphic design classes on top of working with multimedia in my PWR classes. Shortly after, I found myself putting both my writing and design skills to use in my internships, and will soon continue that once I enter the professional world when I graduate in May of 2020.
This portfolio contains my most valued work throughout my college experience. It includes examples of both my writing and design, as well as a reflection analyzing them through a rhetorical lens. I hope you enjoy! If you have any questions, feel free to reach me through my contact page.
